Caves and the Gorges de la Jonte: a day trip from Florac
Discover the caves via the Causse Méjean and explore the Gorges de la Jonte.

Plan to leave Florac at 9am, heading for the caves across the Causse Méjean!

On the way, stop to watch the Przewalski's horses.

What are Przewalski's horses?
You can recognise them by their small size, their dun coat, the dark stripe along the spine, a thick neck and a short, upright mane with no forelock between the ears.

Above all, they have 66 chromosomes, whereas domestic horses have 64.

This spirited animal is very hard for humans to domesticate. Learn more in our article Magical encounter with Przewalski's horses on the Causse Méjean steppes.

After your stop, get back on the road to visit the Aven Armand cave or the Dargilan cave.
Two magnificent caves, each with its own charm.

For lunch, we suggest the Restaurant Hôtel des Gorges de la Jonte.
We recommend booking ahead on +33 5 65 62 67 82.

After lunch, head for the Maison des Vautours (House of Vultures).
Come and discover and watch these majestic birds and their fabulous story!

To return to Florac, we recommend going back via Le Rozier and the Gorges du Tarn for magnificent views.
